Active Storm Event

April 2026 Storm Damage — West Fort Worth

What it means for your roof and your insurance claim.

What Happened April 25-26

Hail ranging from 1 inch to 2.5 inches in diameter struck portions of Tarrant and Parker County on April 25-26, 2026. The storm system moved through the Benbrook, Aledo, Azle, Lake Worth, and Saginaw corridors, with some cells extending into Springtown and Weatherford.

Hail in that size range causes damage that is real, documentable, and insurance-claimable — but almost never visible to a homeowner standing in their yard. The damage occurs at the granule level of the shingle, at flashing seams, and at soffit and fascia intersections. You will not see it from the ground. That does not mean it is not there.

If your property sits in any of the affected zip codes and you have not had a professional inspection since the storm, there is a meaningful probability that you have damage your insurance policy will cover.

Red Flags: What to Watch For

They knocked your door without an appointment

Legitimate contractors work by referral and appointment. Door-to-door solicitation after a storm is a pressure tactic, not a service.

They want you to sign today

A written inspection report takes time to prepare. Anyone asking you to sign a contract the same day they knocked your door is not operating in your interest.

They cannot provide a local license number

Ask for their Texas contractor license number and verify it. If they deflect, that tells you something.

They are from out of state

Roofing contractors from other states come to Texas after storms for one reason: fast money before the heat dies down. They will not be here to warranty their work.

They say your deductible is waivable

It is not. Waiving your deductible is insurance fraud. A contractor who suggests it is telling you something important about how they operate.
